Tips for parents to use
Here are a few tips for you:
1) a code word, in the event of a stranger ever trying to take small children to mid teens make up a special code word for them have one code word family wide so only your kids and close family and friends know it.
If someone approaches your children and the child thinks something is not right they can ask the person for the code word, if the person doesn't know, this will alert the child to find help.
2) if someone is trying to take your child, scream fire as loud and as much as they can, People usually don't look for help but fire, people will always look too. if you live near water and on a beach setting shark works very well too.
3) every year from very small ages to around 16, get them fingerprinted, a picture taken, digital pictures work well, you can also make a small live video of them. This is going to be very helpful if anything ever happens and your child goes missing.
4) DNA kits, now you can take your own childs DNA and keep it in a safe place. you can get these at the local police dept for free I believe..
5) have a note card for each child with all their ID info on it, have copies of their birth records and shot records handy also. You will definately want to mark down any identifying marks like scars or birthmarks.
Keep all this stuff in a safe dry place for god forbid in the event your child goes missing.
