Does anyone here have a myspace account? If so, what are your thoughts on myspace and myspace related and similar sites in general? There are so many of them. Do they pose a danger threat towards children? What do you think?

Have you ever used it? Also, did you know it has more visitors per day/month than even google? It's crazy.

I have a myspace account, but I don't really post on it.

I have a real one which has like two friends and that's it. I don't use it and have never posted it.

However, I also have one fake one that I started a few weeks ago for promotional reasons. Haven't used it much but I've worked on getting a lot of friends. Now I have over eight hundred.

Pretty cool.

I'd also like to add that myspace is a HUGE waste of bandwidth, time, and money. Sure, the owner(s) are making millions, but that's really it.

They have two and a half times the amount of traffic and google, and most is wasted in spam, porn, and stolen copyrighted images.

I hate it.

Myspace is good for some businesses for promoting etc, everyone these days has a myspace account. I received a business card from a client recently and they had their myspace account url listed on the card, I thought that was odd.

I have kids, teens infact 2 of them they each have a myspace account, let me tell you, I monitor them on that because I have heard so many horror stories about it. Alot of pedos lurk on myspace for all the teens that go there, I am sure they make up band websites and such, It is a parents nightmare.

I really like MySpace as a way of keeping in touch with friends. I was able to reconnect with a lot of the people that I went to high school with and we have now reformed our friendships. As far as the threat that it poses to children, that is the parents responsibility to know what their kids are up to and to keep a close eye on them.

I enjoy my space but I only talk with people I know personally. I do not think that anything on the internet is safe for kids nowadays but it's all up to us parents to take responsibility for our kids. I have strict parental controls that don't allow my daughter to go anywhere without my say-so.

I browsed it and did not like what I seen at all and tell my kids not to talk that trash or post anything llike where they live and stuff. Never know who may be reading it.

I use my space with the intention of keeping in touch with friends out of state. I do not think mysafe is safe for kids but it is also the responsibility of the parent to control what their child is viewing.
