Default a friend's child in hiding

I think I made a mistake recently where my friend & her child are concerned. I saw a picture on a bus stop that looked just like my friend's daughter, and I casually told my son who is the daughter's freind, that I saw a picture that looked just like her on a missing person alert on the bus stop. He told her, and the next day, she and her mother left town suddenly. Later, my son told me that they probably left because I saw their picture, because they were running from her father who was abusive. Now we don't know where they are or if they are safe.

This is the only downside about some missing people, they are missing for valid reasons like abuse.

That is such a shame for people to have to live their life in fear like that. I guess the good side is that they were able to leave before the abusive jerk found them again.

Yes, I am hoping that they are safe and that he has not found them. I feel bad that they did not think they could confide in us so that they could keep in touch, but it is probably better for less people to know where they are.
