i've been thinking of buy a game console for my 8 yr old but im not sure which one to buy im thinkin maybe i shoud wait for the ps3 to come out because i've heard some pretty amazing things about it andplus it will be great since its planned for the future. but im having a hard time deciding between the ps3 later and gamecub, i mainly want to buy the game cube because it has a lot of kid friendly games it seems like allthe mario stuff. the ps3 hasmore older teenage games which arent really appropriate in most cases. i also want something that will last though and iknow kids change and grow so fast..anyone have any suggestions?
I've been a big fan of Playstation since the original Playstation (1). Very cool, and they are pretty much all top of the line. Gotta love Playstation.
However, I've got a little reserve about you giving your eight year old a gaming counsel. I would actually advice against it. Anyway, if you have to get him one, get him the PSP. It's great not only for games, but for music, movies, and the internet. Awesome.

They have so many great things out these days that are kid friendly and the games have educational value as well as they are fun. I would suggest that you either check out something from leapfrog or VSmart both companies should have something that will meet your families needs.
A good kid friendly console is the Nintendo game cube. My daughter plays the Mario games all the time and they are rated E. They are also very inexpensive for consoles.
My 8 yr old is loving her gamecube and we get some really cheap games from the pawnshop. She fussed a little at first but now we can't keep her off of it.
